Today we had Cora dedicated to the Lord. We came down to Huntington, WV and had the dedication at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, where David grew up and where his mom, aunt and grandparents still go. Dedicated to the Lord. What does that mean? Dr. Reasons gave us a letter to give to Cora on the day she becomes a Christian. I'm dying to know what the letter says, but David tells me (and I hate to admit it, but he's right) it's not for us, it's for Cora. Today it became real to me that we are dedicating our daughter to the Lord. We are committing ourselves to bring her up in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. What an awesome task this is! What does it mean to bring her up in the Lord? How do we go about doing this? I don't know entirely. I know a lot of it will be taught through example. I sure hope David and I can be a good example and show her the love of the Lord. I pray that one day in the next few years we will be able to give Cora her letter and read it to her (or she'll read it) and hear what words Dr. Reasons has given to our Cora. Dear Lord, show us how to raise this little girl to be a woman who follows you and lives for you wholly.
