I'm 38 weeks today! I keep telling myself that with each day and week I'm just that much closer to the day! :) Since last week I've had some pretty hard, on the verge of painful (because I've been through labor I know these aren't TRULLY painful yet!) contractions. Some have been waking me up at night. Alas, no baby yet! The crib is put together, all baby things have been washed, we have acquired a bouncy seat to borrow, the hospital bag is packed with most stuff. I'm keeping up on the laundry and grocery shopping as much as possible. My mom continues to come up and help me keep the house clean. We're ready, man! C'mon baby!!
I am trying really hard to just live life to the best of my ability. I've been spending a lot of time in prayer, reading Scripture, just resting in the Lord. I have my moments of nerves and "panic," which I hope are normal. I'm trying really, really hard not to let those moments become controlling or take over. I've been pretty successful. I keep telling myself that birth is happening whether I'm ready or not. This baby has to come out at some point whether all of my mental ducks are in a row. And, I keep telling myself how much nicer it would be if I wasn't in a state of panic when it happened! So, I continually give my fears over to the Lord and ask for his help and just go about my day as well as possible. I mean, isn't that what we're supposed to do anyway?
And so, we begin week 38 with hopes that this baby boy will make his appearance this week, but also knowing if he doesn't the Good Lord has his reasons!
Thoughts, funny stories and other ramblings from a woman who is also a pastor's wife!

From "My Utmost for His Highest"
GOD'S SAY-SO
"He hath said...so that we may boldly say..." Hebrews 13:56
My say-so is built on God's say-so. God says--"I will never leave thee," then I can with good courage say--"The Lord is my helper, I will not fear--" I will not be haunted by apprehension. This does not mean that I will not be tempted to fear, but I will remember God's say-so. I will be full of courage, like a child "bucking himself up" to reach the standard his father wants. Faith in many a one falters when the apprehensions come; they forget the meaning of God's say-so, forget to take a deep breath spiritually. The only way to get the dread taken out o us is to listen to God's say-so.
What are you dreading? you are not a coward about it, you are gong to face it, but there is a feeling of dread. When there is nothing and no one to help you, say--"But the Lord is my Helper, this second, in my present outlook." Are you learning to say things after listening to God, or are you saying things and trying to make God's word fit in? Get hold of the Father's say-so, and then say with good courage--"I will not fear." It does not matter what evil or wrong may be in the way, He has said--I will never leave thee."
Frailty is another thing that gets in between God's say-so and ours. When we realize how feeble we are in facing difficulties, the difficulties become like giants, we become like grasshoppers, and God becomes a nonentity. Remember God's say-so--"I will in no wise fail you." Have we learned to sing after hearing God's key-note? Are we always possessed with the courage to say--"The Lord is my helper," or are we succumbing?
O Lord, speak to me now. Inspire me for today; dulness, deep and devastating, seems to hold fast to my powers.
